I am deeply involved in a leadership role in my profession. As a housing inspector/rehabilitation specialist I have to assume the role of the leader in practically each and every rehab project. Entering a total strangers home and convincing them to let you perform repairs to bring there residence up to HUD standard takes not only a lot of trust, but certain leadership qualities.
Working with the public challenges me because each project takes on its own personality. The world of the inspector evolves around convincing the homeowner that you are capable of taking the lead and, in conjunction with the General Contractor, making their home compliant with Housing and Urban Development rules and guidelines. The personality of each project has shaped and molded myself into a chameleon type leader, able to change leadership styles with each and every project.
